Administration

The Governing Body

The Governing Body is made up of 16 members appointed by the schools various stakeholders, including parents, staff, the Parochial Church Council, the Diocese, Surrey County Council and the Steer and Booth charity. The Governors are responsible for staffing, discipline, the curriculum, and maintenance of the buildings and finance. It is the responsibility of the governors to ensure that Religious Education is provided according to the principles and practices of the Church of England. The governors meet officially once a term but governor committee meetings are held more frequently.

School Times

Children are admitted to school at 8:50am.
Morning Session 9:00am - 12noon
Afternoon Session 1:10pm - 3:10pm
The children have breaks at 10:25-10:40am every day and 2:30-2:40pm Monday - Thursday. Lunchtime is from 12noon - 1:10pm. Milk is available to children at morning break and should be paid for termly. Children may bring fruit in a plastic container to eat during the morning break.

At the end of school parents are encouraged to wait for their children by their classroom doors where they may collect their child from the class teacher.

Finance

The school receives funding from several sources:

  • Local Education Authority
  • The LEA meets most of the basic running costs of the school through a delegated budget which is managed by the head, bursar and school governors.

  • DFES
  • The DFES provides funding for building projects through the Diocese.

  • Parochial Church Council
  • The Parochial Church Council also supports the school financially by helping governors to meet their financial commitments. This help includes a contribution from the May Queen ceremony and St. Peter's Fete.

  • Parent Teacher Association
  • Valuable assistance is given to the school through the fund-raising activities of the PTA.

Charging Policy

Parents may, at various times, be invited to make a contribution towards some activities, e.g. swimming, cooking and educational visits. There will be no obligation to contribute and children will not be treated differently whether or not any contribution has been made in response to a request.

Educational Visits

During the year all the children participate in a variety of trips. Some of these are in the local environment, others may be further afield to support curriculum work.

Extra Curricular Activities

Children may join the Football Club, which is held on a Saturday morning. We offer a weekly multi sports club, an additional football club in summer and members of St Peter’s Church hold JJ Club after school on Thursdays. The swimming pool is kept open after school during the summer term time and for sessions in the summer holidays when parents who are qualified lifesavers and first aiders are available. This is an ideal facility for parents to use with their children and we encourage you to do so.

School Meals

At Newdigate we have a kitchen on the premises, which provides very good meals. Lunchtime is a very social occasion we encourage the children to enjoy a meal together, with Year 2 children acting as servers for the younger children. Dinner Money may be paid termly, half-termly or weekly. When paid it should be sent in a named envelope and sent to the office on a Monday morning. Cheques should be made payable to Surrey County Council. Alternatively, you can now pay online at www.surreycc.gov.uk/schoolmeals. Our school code is ECFE5707.
